Sadhana is a Sanskrit term meaning "spiritual practice." It involves disciplined and dedicated practice to achieve spiritual goals. Sadhana can encompass various practices, including meditation, asana (physical postures), pranayama (breath control), and ethical observances. The goal of Sadhana is to cultivate inner peace, clarity, and a deeper connection to one's true self.

Multiple yogic texts mention Sadhana.

  • Yoga Sutras of Patanjali: Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras outline the 8 limbs of Yoga (Ashtanga Yoga) which provides a comprehensive framework for Sadhana

  • Bhagavad Gita: The Gita emphasizes the importance of disciplined action (Karma Yoga), devotion (Bhakti Yoga), and knowledge (Jnana Yoga) as forms of Sadhana.

  • Hatha Yoga Pradipika: This text provides detailed instructions on the physical aspects of Sadhana, including asanas, pranayama, and cleansing techniques
